Hello and thanks for adding me.
I would like to find my grandparents families Vasil (grandfather GF) and Gano (grandmother GM).
On my GF death certificate it shows his father as Michael Wassil (Vasil) and mother as Erza Slepak. His given name is Miklos, b. ~ 1869 place ?, d. 1926 in Pennsylvania.
I'm a DNA match to a family that has a Maria Vasil b. 1895 Leszna, Pusté Čemerné, d. 1964 New Jersey USA (NJ) married to John Dankovchik b 1898 NJ, d. 1924 NJ, my DNA match is to their grandchildren.
Maria's mother, Maria Hákos b.1865 Leszna, Pusté Čemerné, d. unknown, father Michael Vasil b. ~1861, place unknown, d. 1923 NJ.
Because of my DNA match to Maria/Michael in NJ, my guess is that Michael Vasil (Maria's father) and my GF are either brothers or cousins and that they were both from somewhere in Vranov nad Topľou, but where?
My GF had 2 brothers for sure Paul and John. Sisters ?
GM Maria Gano b. ~1880 d.1936 Pennsylvania, is my GF wife and I know even less about her people.
She was from Vinne'. They had a son Michael, in 1896 in Pennsylvania, she went back home and had daughter Maria b.1899 in Trnava pri Laborci. On Maria's baptismal record it notes they were married in Braddock PA. in 1895, after having Maria she returned to the U.S.
She had a nephew John Gano b, 1897 PA. d. 1963 Ohio. There's passport evidence that he went to Vinne' to visit family ~1920 and his father was Andrew, probably GM brother.
John married Anna Hoszpodár b. 1898 #50 Kaluža, they had a son George also born there, their other 5 children were born in PA and Ohio.
It appears that most if not all Ganos except my GM moved to north east Ohio at some point from PA but no evidence of any brothers or sisters being in the U.S. that I can find.
Thanks for any light someone can shed on this mystery.
